New £1.5 Million Footbridge at Shirley Station

EH Smith is very proud to have been approached by Murphy Group to offer our assistance with the build of a brand new footbridge at Shirley train station.

The bridge, due to be fully completed by the end of 2014, will for the first time allow access for disabled passengers to cross and use both sides of the station platforms.

Murphy required specialist materials for the project; EH Smith was able to offer both our brick matching expertise and specialist products, successfully matching to the bricks of the station’s ticket office.

Alongside our sister company Advanced Construction Systems, we also provided our fast, efficient, and flexible FastClad brick slip cladding system. This helped Murphy maximise their limited available work time due to strict time restrictions in place when working on certain parts of the station.

EH Smith also ensured that not only were we able to match the bricks, but also the bonding too. Thanks to the flexibility of the FastClad system, this was easily done as the system can be made to fit within the bridges steel structure saving time, money and crucially weight.

EH Smith is proud to have yet again been able to contribute to another project for the local community. We look forward to the bridge opening later this year and seeing it being used and enjoyed.
